Three important findings were revealed as a result of this study that examined
support services for remote learners. Darrell L. Cain, Chip Marrara, Paul E.
Pitre, and Sabrina Armour investigate the support needs, experiences, and expectations
of a group of graduate students enrolled in distance learning programs. The
authors set out to answer three questions: (1) What did these graduate distance
learners think about student support services being offered at their institution?
(2) What were the experiences of those graduate distance learners using support
services? (3) What support services were needed to meet the expectation of these
graduate distance learners? Details about the study and the findings are presented
in this article from the Spring 2003 (vol. 18, no. 1, 42-56) issue of the Journal
of Distance Education.
Supporting Open & Distance
Learners Through the World Wide Web (WWW)
